Understanding China through Searching for the Multiple Decoding
Abstract: Defining the meaning of China’s 20th century, especially after the last 200 years for China becomes one of the most controversial issues across the modern world. We could divide the last 200 years into two parts: China substantially turned into a periphery in the globalized world from the core of East Asia in the 19th century and China finally awakened from her humiliation in the 20th century. Moreover, each part consists of four sub-parts, in which there are 25 years of periodical political fluctuation. The structural reforms occurred in China represent the development of the relationship between the state and the society, which is essential for minimizing western globalization shocks. By defining the historical and political continuity throughout the last 200 years for China, it is possible to provide the decipherment for the multiple understandings of China.
